The University of Notre Dame is a research university that provides its undergraduates with an excellent educational experience that is distinctly Catholic. Most students identify as Catholic, and embrace the school’s religious traditions and emphasis on using their education for the greater good. A majority of students live in one of 29 single-sex residences for all four years, and with a music venue/public house/restaurant in ‘Legends of Notre Dame’ and the 83,000 square feet Lafortune Student Center on campus, there is no shortage of things to do. Students come to Notre Dame for its academics, Catholic institutions and traditions and to watch the beloved “Fighting Irish’ take the field on game day.

Student Life | With a Catholic identity that permeates student life, students who live on campus reside in single-sex dorms. There are no traditional fraternities or sororities, but since many undergraduates spend all four years living in the same hall, they forge close bonds with their flatmates and play together on intramural teams. There are many religious clubs on campus like the Knights of Columbus, who operate a charitable concession stand during home football games. Football games are widely attended and the fan base remains loyal to the ‘Fighting Irish’ long after graduation. |
