The “capstone of the public school system in the state,” the University of Alabama is a public, student-centered research university with one of the most successful college football programs in history. With eight academic divisions serving undergraduates, over 300 student organizations and a strong focus on independent research and creative activities among undergraduates, the University of Alabama truly puts students at the center of its activities. The University also sports a very active Greek society, with over 30 percent of the student body joining a fraternity or sorority. Athletics remains at the center of the student experience, as the Crimson Tide are perennial powerhouses in South Eastern Conference (SEC) football. With nearly twenty thousand undergrads living in the town of Tuscaloosa, students are always finding new things to do and new people to meet.
