Tufts University

Originally a small New England liberal arts college, Tufts University was transformed in the late 1970s into an internationally renowned research university. Today, it is considered one of the ‘New Ivies” and consistently ranks among the most selective colleges in the nation. One of the first universities to truly challenge admissions orthodoxy, in 2006 Tufts began to accept Youtube videos and other ancillary materials from prospective students to test “creativity and other non-academic factor.” Tufts encourages active citizenship and public service among its students, and is well known for its international reach and study abroad programs. With its main campus just six miles from Boston, students are close to one of the youngest and most exciting cities in the US. The school has another three campuses, two near Boston, and the Tufts European Center in southern France.
