Elon University

Elon University is a private liberal arts school situated on a historic and picturesque 600 acre botanical garden in Elon, North Carolina. Elon University is unique in the emphasis it places on engaged learning and active citizenship. Students are encouraged to partake in “Elon Experiences” which include: doing student undergraduate research, studying abroad, doing internships, engaging in service learning, and demonstrating leadership. Consequently, almost all students take part in volunteer service or in an internship during their time at Elon. Elon University students share a concern for the common good and form lasting bonds with their classmates and with the greater community. Originally the ‘Fighting Christians,’ the Elon mascot changed in 2000 to the ‘Phoenix’ in reference to a fire in 1923 that nearly burned down the entire school. Thus Elon University rose from the ashes and to this day, continues to be a treasured school among its bright and motivated student body and alumni.
