Students

If you are reading this, you are probably a teenager with college aspirations. You recognize that by advancing your education, you can expand your possibilities and increase your career choices.  You may -- or you may not -- have any idea where you want to go, or what you want to do!

"Don't panic."  -  Douglas Adams (The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy)

As one of the eight million high school students planning for college, you probably have lots of questions.  InLikeMe offers lots of answers along with great information and advice from college insiders, professional counselors and successful applicants.

If you are a high school junior, sophomore or freshman ready to get a jump start on planning for college -- kudos to you. An early start will give you some extra time to define your goals, size up your interests, strengths and weaknesses, and make yourself attractive to college admission officers.

If you are a senior, and just getting started -- don’t worry -- there is still a lot you can accomplish even in a short period of time.

In 2010 more than 65% of the estimated 3 million graduating seniors will be heading to college. The growing number of college-bound students has fueled intense competition for admission at many colleges and universities.

InLikeMe was founded to overcome frustration with the fragmented nature of the college planning and application process. There are numerous resources, advisory services and commercial web sites with varying levels of quality and relevance. But none tie it all together in one practical, easy-to-use site.  Our goal is to be your gateway to this critical set of advice, information search, actions and decisions leading to a higher level of success and a lower level of stress.

To pull all the pieces together, we obsessively scoured the web for resources, read countless books and other publications and participated in the college planning and admission process for our own high school children. The result, we hope you will agree, is a user-friendly site, organized around the common-sense steps that a teenager would find comfortable, accessible and helpful.  We strive to be your Guide to the College Guides with a site packed full of useful information, commentary and advice along with direct links to hundreds of resources and tools.

The college application process is rife with confusion, anxiety and mis-information. This extends from evaluating colleges, to finding financial aid, to thinking about where a student would find a strong "fit".   InLikeMe can be invaluable in helping to sort through these impediments, managing all the information, constructing action plans for each year of high school, and in thinking about how a college candidate can position him or herself to get all that they can out of the college experience.
